Gallery: The images in this gallery are the most recent examples of my work. They predominately deal with sights in my local area. I have always harbored (forgive the pun) an interest in British Seaside resorts and am both saddened and invigorated by their demise, as families opt quite understandably for more exotic destinations with more agreeable and predictable climates. I especially enjoy, possibly though a series of nostalgic reminders, the tackiness of seaside resorts. Inflatable dinghies attached to walls, penny arcades, buckets and spades, fish and chips, goose-bumps, the smell of salt water, Sea-gulls. They are a landscape that changes rapidly and alter not only according to seasons in weather, but tourism. A resort out of season can be a desolate experience.

The Great British Beach Hut. These huts along the Folkestone Coast are far from fashion accessories and lack the individuality seen in many other parts of the country, but instead have a different beauty in their uniformity.

'Une Annee Sans Lumiere - Dover' A1 Pen & Ink Drawing
I have grown to quite like Dover and especially the dock area. I think my initial thoughts of the place would certainly upset its inhabitants but even they must admit, it isn't the best introduction to Britain for visiting folk. What I think I like most is that you have to look a little harder for the bits to love.

'Between Angels And Insects' A1 Pen & Ink Drawing
During a recent visit to Barcelona I was photographing pigeons on the Placa de Catalunya for an idea I'd had, when a young girl sat amongst them and just held her hand for them to feed from. As a child I too have fed pigeons in this way all over the world. As an adult and possibly due to the much fictionalised statistic of London pigeons, I haven't done it since. A shame really!

This is the second of smaller ink drawings. I like this view over the harbour which is all due to change. It's one of the only views of The White Cliffs from Folkestone with views of the Pavillion and Mortello Tower to boot.

This is 'Deck Amusements' in Dymchurch. It's just off the main drag which could explain the glamourous signage which leaves few doubting the nature of the business.

I prefer to sell my work framed. I have the pictures professionally framed by a local craftsman and receive a discount due to the number of frames I have made. This cost is then passed on to the purchaser as seen above. The images are stark and require a stark frame to accentuate them. The pictures on this page are presented in a black stained walnut frame with a pure white deep bevelled Daler Board surround.
